Weiten-Gesäß is a district of Michelstadt in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse .

Geographical location

Weiten-Gesäß is located in the middle of the woods northeast of the core town of Michelstadt on a south-facing slope on the Waldbach at the foot of a cleared mountain ridge. The Waldbach flows through the Schlehengrund to the northwest towards Zell im Odenwald towards the Mümling . In the east, large forest areas extend over the 449 meter high Katzenbuckel to Eulbacher Park , where the highest elevation in the district is over 500 meters. The Heuberger Hof is located in its own clearing in the Gottwald west of the Waldbach , and until a few years ago, the Habrich forester's house was still the seat of a district forester .

The oldest surviving documentary mention as Widengesehez dates from 1113.

On October 1, 1971, Weiten-Gesäß voluntarily joined the city of Michelstadt on the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse . As for every district of Michelstädter, a local district with a local advisory council and a local mayor was established.

Heuberger Hof

The forester's house Habrich , today: Heuberger Hof, a manorial estate founded in 1863 by Count Eberhard zu Erbach-Erbach, a large four-sided complex, is a cultural monument as a whole.

Transport and infrastructure

Weiten-Gesäß is located on the K 92 district road , which comes from the south-western town of Michelstadt over the Sattelhöhe on the Weiten-Gesäßer Berg and leads through the Waldbachtal down to Zell im Odenwald in the north-west.
