Stockheim is a district of Michelstadt in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse .
Geographical location
Stockheim is located on the right northeast bank of the Erdbach and borders in the north on the core town of Michelstadt and in the south on the core town of Erbach . The district of Stockheim is significantly smaller than the districts of all other districts of Michelstadt and is predominantly built on. The development has grown together with the neighboring locations of Michelstadt, Erbach and Dorf-Erbach . history
The oldest surviving documentary mention as Stocheim in the Lorsch Codex dates from 1095. Among other things, it deals with a mill located on the Erdbach , which was of central importance for the place. At the end of the 19th century, Stockheim developed into the workers' residence of the doctor cloth factory located here.
Territorial reform
On April 1, 1971, Stockheim voluntarily joined the city of Michelstadt on the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse . As for every district of Michelstädter, a local district with a local advisory council and a local mayor was established.

Culture
The Stockheimer Mühle is still a functional flour mill . It is said to have existed as early as the 8th or 9th century and would therefore be one of the oldest mills in the Odenwald district, even if the current buildings were hardly built before 1800. The mill is a listed building, as is the village fountain in Mühlstrasse.
In 1934 a volunteer fire brigade was founded, which had to pass its first major test when the Rexroth-Lynn company burned down in 1937.
traffic
Stockheim lies on both sides of Bundesstrasse 47 , Nibelungenstrasse , which branches off from Bundesstrasse 45 in the west of the Stockheim area and runs as Amorbacher Strasse over the hunting lodge Eulbach to Amorbach in the east.
