Asselbrunn is a hamlet in the Steinbach district of Michelstadt in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse .

Geographical location

Asselbrunn lies in the north of the urban area of ​​Michelstadt and on the western edge of the valley floodplain through which the Mümling flows. The hills in the south and west of the village are used for agriculture, while in the north the steep slopes of the 355 meter high Steinich are forested.

Asselbrunn was first mentioned in 1095 in the Lorsch Codex .

On October 1, 1936, the village was incorporated into Steinbach. The village with Steinbach came to Michelstadt as part of the regional reform in Hesse on August 1, 1972.

Transport and infrastructure

Asselbrunn is connected to the south-east by a spur road to the inner-city road network of Steinbach and that of the core town of Michelstadt, as well as to the federal highway 45 running along the Mümling .

Since the floodplains near Asselbrunn are the lowest part of the city, the Michelstadt sewage treatment plant was built here along the Mümling.
