The Kazanskaya Mountain ( Russian Гора Казанзкая Gora Kasankskaja , Norwegian Kazanskajatoppen ) is a 2690 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Weyprecht Mountains of Hoelfjella , it forms the northern end of the Snøskalkegga ridge .
He was discovered and photographed from the air during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Mapping was carried out on the basis of aerial photographs and measurements by the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) and by scientists from a Soviet Antarctic expedition (1960–1961). The latter presumably also named it after the Russian city of Kazan . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1970.
