Nakamura completed his first international jumping in the World Cup on his home hill in Sapporo on January 18, 1997. With 34th place, he just missed the points. Just one day later, however, he was able to win his first World Cup points in jumping on the large hill with 27th place. At the Junior World Championships in 1998 in St. Moritz , he won the silver medal in both individual and team competitions on the normal hill.
In the following years he regularly jumped into the points. He achieved his best result on March 9, 2001 on the large hill in Trondheim , where he was able to achieve 8th place. After three more, rather mediocre World Cup competitions, he jumped in the Continental Cup from January 12, 2002 , but only in his home town of Sapporo. After finishing his career in the Continental Cup in 2003, he jumped again from his home hill in 2006 as part of the FIS Cup , before ending his active jumping career after finishing 46th.
