Kazuko Matsuo

Kazuko Matsuo ( Japanese 松尾 和 子 , Matsuo Kazuko ; born May 17, 1935 in Kamata , Tokyo , † September 25, 1992 in Tokyo) was a Japanese pop and jazz singer who was also an actress . It was known as the " Dinah Shore of Japan".

Matsuo released a first single in 1959, followed by an LP with Victor ( 夜 の ハ ス キ ー 松尾 和 子 ム ー ド 集 第 2 集 ), and she sang a duet with Frank Nagai (Tokyo Night Club) . In the 1960s, LPs followed (some of which were also made in the USA) such as Husky in the Night I / II [Yoru no husky 1 / II] at Columbia (1960), Hi-Light (Victor, 1964), I Don't Want to Know ( Shirita kunaino , Victor, 1967) and Sighs and the Night ( Tameiko to yoru , Victor, 1970). During her recordings in the 1970s she was accompanied by jazz musicians such as Joe Kobayashi ( Star Dust , 1978), Yoshitaka Akimitsu , Yukio Ikezawa and Shōji Yokouchi . She appeared in the films Tokyô no Yoru wa Naiteiru (1961, directed by Morihei Magatani), Ratai (1964, directed by Masashige Narusawa) and Otoko nara yattemiro (1960, Kiyoshi Saeki).
