The Kearns Peninsula is a wide and icy peninsula on the north coast of Thurston Island off the Eights coast of West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It lies between the Potaka Inlet and the Peale Inlet .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 2003 after Lieutenant (* 1924) by William Henry Kearns United States Navy Reserve , the American US in the December 30, 1946 Operation Highjump (1946-1947) as co-pilot of a Martin PBM Mariner with it had crashed on the neighboring Noville peninsula and was rescued with five surviving companions on January 12, 1947.
