Keely Kelleher (born August 12, 1984 in Bozeman , Montana ) is a former American ski racer . She was a member of the US Ski Association from 2003 to 2010. Her strongest disciplines were the super-G and the downhill . Kelleher finished in the fastest 30 four times in the World Cup and won two races in the Nor-Am Cup . In 2010 she became the American Super-G champion.
Career
Kelleher grew up in Big Sky , Montana and started skiing at the age of two. From 1999 she attended the Rowmark Ski Academy in Salt Lake City for four years . In December 1999 she contested her first FIS races , appearances in the Nor-Am Cup followed from March 2001. In the 2002/03 season she was able to place in almost all of her races in the top ten and achieved third place in with this performance the overall ranking. In February 2003 she also took part in some races in the European Cup and took the podium twice in the two downhill runs from Innerkrems .
In the summer of 2003, Kelleher suffered serious injuries to his right leg in a training fall and had to take a break for almost two full seasons. She made her comeback on March 8, 2005 at the Nor-Am Slalom in Craigleith . In the 2005/06 season she was able to celebrate several podium places and a victory, reached third place in the overall and Super-G classification and finished fifth in the downhill classification. In January 2006 she started again in the European Cup and in 2008 she achieved several top 10 placements.
Kelleher made her debut in the World Cup on December 1, 2007 in the Downhill from Lake Louise . This season she took part in a total of five World Cup races, but never came in the top 30. On December 20, 2008, she reached 27th place in the Super-G in St. Moritz and scored her first World Cup points. At the races in Bansko in February / March 2009 she was able to score twice again. She achieved her best World Cup result on December 6th, 2009 with 20th place in the Super-G of Lake Louise. On March 20, 2010, she was American champion in Super-G. Two months later, Kelleher announced her retirement from ski racing.
