Kehinde Vaughan

Kehinde Vaughan (born December 19, 1961 in Nigeria ) is a Nigerian sprinter . She took part in the Olympic Games in 1980 and 1988 and was African champion in the 400-meter run.

Life

Vaughan ran the 400 m in 53.86 seconds at the 1978 African Games in Algiers and won the gold medal ahead of Ruth Kyalisima from Uganda and Georgina Aidou from Ghana. In the competition for the 200 m course, she ran the second-best time with 23.70 seconds and thus won the silver medal.

She took part in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow in the discipline of athletics - 4 × 400 m (women) . In this season she ran with Gloria Ayanlaja , Asele Woy and Mary Akinyemi in the preroll 2 together a time of 3: 36.0 min and did not get beyond the preliminary round. In the athletics competition - 400 m (women) she reached 7th place in preliminary 1 with a time of 53.54 seconds.

At the African Athletics Championships in Cairo in 1985 , she ran the 400 m distance in 53.33 seconds and thus won the gold medal. Her participation in the Athletics World Cup in 1985 in the 400 m run brought her only 8th place with 53.16 seconds. In the competition of the 400 m run at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Indianapolis in 1987 Vaughan ran a time of 56.72 seconds. In the overall standings she hardly came in 16th place.

Vaughan also took part in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul , in the athletics competition - 4 × 400 m (women) . In the season she ran together with Falilat Ogunkoya , Airat Bakare and Mary Onyali a time of 3: 30.21 min in advance 1. This was not enough to get into the next round.
