Keith Ramon Bogans (born May 12, 1980 in Washington, DC ) is a retired American basketball player who was active in the NBA from 2003 to 2014 .

Career

college

Bogans played for the University of Kentucky for four years . With him, the team twice reached the elite eight round in the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship tournament.

NBA

After he had been traded as a first-round pick in the NBA Draft in between , he was only selected in 2003 in 43rd place by the Milwaukee Bucks .

Orlando Magic

Bogans was transferred to Orlando Magic on the day of the draft . In his first season he played 73 games, started 36 times and averaged 6.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. At the end of the season, the team had the worst record in the league.

Charlotte Bobcats

In exchange for Brandon Hunter , Bogans was transferred to the Charlotte Bobcats on November 1, 2004 . In his only full season for the Bobcats, he posted a career high of 9.6 points per game. The team clearly missed the playoffs.

Houston Rockets

On February 9, 2006, he moved to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Lonny Baxter . There he received significantly more playing time than at his previous clubs, but once again missed the playoffs with the team and did not extend his contract with the Rockets afterwards.

Return to Orlando

On July 13, Orlando Magic announced that they had re-signed Bogans. After a weaker first season in Orlando, he was able to improve his statistics significantly in the second season. In both years the Magic made it into the NBA playoffs, but both times clearly had to admit defeat to the Detroit Pistons . In his first game as a starter in the 2008-09 season against the Houston Rockets, Bogans broke a thumb and was in danger of being out for 4-6 weeks. Still, he returned just two weeks later against the Oklahoma City Thunder .

Milwaukee Bucks

On February 5, 2009, Bogans was transferred back to the Milwaukee Bucks against Tyronn Lue , the team that had drafted him around six years earlier. After 29 games for the Bucks, he had an average of six points per game.

San Antonio Spurs

Bogans signed a contract with the San Antonio Spurs in September 2009 , where he played for a season. In the Conference semifinals, the Spurs had to admit defeat to the Phoenix Suns in just four games .

Chicago Bulls

On August 11, 2010, Bogans was signed by the Chicago Bulls . In the 2010/11 season he started in each of the 82 season games, as well as in the playoffs. The Bulls made it to the Conference finals that year, but lost to the Miami Heat . Bogans was fired by the Bulls shortly before the start of the next season, in December 2011.

New Jersey / Brooklyn Nets

On February 1, 2012, he was signed by the New Jersey Nets . However, Bogans only played five games for the team as he was seriously injured just a week later and was out for the rest of the season. The Nets then released him from his contract. Bogans signed a new contract in the summer of 2012 with the Nets, which had now moved to Brooklyn.

Boston Celtics

On July 12, 2013, he was traded to the Boston Celtics , where he played until the end of the 2013-14 season.
