Brandon Lamar Hunter (born November 24, 1980 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American basketball player . After a successful basketball career in the NCAA college league , Hunter was unable to establish himself in the NBA , the most highly endowed professional league . Since 2006 he has played in numerous European leagues, in addition to three years in Italy also a season in the basketball Bundesliga 2011/12 for the BBC from Bayreuth in the German basketball league . Since the beginning of April 2013 Hunter has been under contract with the French second division ALM Évreux in the LNB Pro B.

Career

College (1999 to 2003)

After graduating from Withrow High School in his hometown, Hunter moved to Ohio University in Athens (Ohio) in 1999 , where he played for the Bobcats in the NCAA's Mid-American Conference (MAC). In his four-year college career, Hunter achieved numerous personal bests not only for the Bobcats, but also within the entire MAC, in which he was elected to the "first team" of the five best players three times in a row except for his freshman year. With over 2,000 career points and over 1,000 rebounds , he belongs to a comparatively exclusive circle of basketball players in the NCAA. For the Bobcats he played together with the later Bundesliga basketball players Patrick Flomo and Steven Esterkamp, among others . A qualification for the national final of the NCAA never succeeded in these years.

NBA and CBA (2003 to 2006)

Hunter was selected in the NBA Draft in the second round 2003 in a total of 56th place by the Boston Celtics. As a rookie , he completed a total of 36 season games with just over ten minutes of playing time per game and was also involved in the play-offs when the Celtics were eliminated in the first round against the Indiana Pacers . The Celtics then provided him for the Charlotte Bobcats' expansion draft , which Hunter also selected for their debut season. Here he completed again with slightly reduced operating time per game 31 season games before he was given in a player swap to Orlando Magic for the following season , but the Hunter no longer used. He therefore completed the 2005/06 season at the CBA club Skyforce from Sioux Falls before leaving his home country in January 2006.

Start in Europe in Italy (2006 to 2009)

In January 2006 Hunter got a short-term contract with the European top club Panathinaikos Athens in Greece , for which he completed only a few missions. In March 2006 he got a contract for the rest of the season with the Italian first division side Carpisa Basket from Naples . In the play-off semi-final series for the championship, the team was eliminated from the main round first Climamio Bologna . For the following season he switched to league rivals from Livorno , who at the end of the season not only had the worst sporting record of all teams, but also got two points deducted due to financial irregularities and were relegated bottom of the table. However, Hunter put up with just under 15 points and nine rebounds on average again personally good statistics for his otherwise unsuccessful team. After the end of the season he was then obliged by the league competitor from Biella , who could not repeat the entry into the play-offs for the championship, although Hunter's personal statistics remained relatively stable in his new team. He then moved to Premiata Sutor Basket from Montegranaro , who had reached the play-offs for the first time. With Hunter this was denied them in the 2008/09 season. In the summer of 2009 Hunter then played in the summer league Baloncesto Superior Nacional in Puerto Rico for the defending champion Capitanes from Arecibo .

Israel, Turkey and Germany (since 2009)

In the 2009/10 season, Hunter got a contract with Hapoel from Jerusalem in the Israeli Ligat ha'Al , which advanced to the quarter-finals of the second most important European club competition, Eurocup 2009/10 , where they went to the knockout. -The German first division team and later finalist Alba Berlin was defeated. When eliminated in the quarter-finals, Hunter was the best scorer of all players in this round and “ Most Valuable Player ” of the quarter-finals first round. In the national championship they lost in the Final Four tournament as runner-up in the main round, the semifinals against the later surprise champion Hapoel Gilboa Galil .

In the 2010/11 season Hunter was initially active in the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi for Aliağa Petkim GSK from Izmir . This team had little success due to constant player changes and Hunter left the club in early March 2011 and moved to Latvia to the basketball club from Ventspils . This club, however, lost the semi-finals and small final for third place in the Baltic Basketball League against the Lithuanian top clubs Žalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos rytas Vilnius and the national championship final series against BK VEF Rīga . In the third European club competition EuroChallenge , they were eliminated in the quarter-finals.

For the basketball Bundesliga 2011/12 Hunter then got a contract with BBC Bayreuth, who had been promoted from the previous year and again achieved relegation. Hunter could only partially meet the expectations placed in him with just under nine points and six rebounds per game. In the 2012/13 season he was again under contract in Israel with Hapoel Gilboa Galil in northeast Israel. In January 2013, they separated and Hunter joined the French first division club Orléans Loiret. After two months, they separated again and in early April Hunter joined the second division club from Évreux .
