Ezekiel "Kell" Brook (born May 3, 1986 in Sheffield ) is a British professional boxer and former IBF welterweight champion.

Career

Brook began boxing at St. Thomas Gym in Sheffield at the age of nine . In 2003 he won the 4-nation junior tournament in Liverpool in the light welterweight division . Until he switched to the professional position at the age of 17, he still played sparring matches against well-known world champions such as Junior Witter and Johnny Nelson .

In 2004 he moved to the professional camp under his coach Brendan Ingle, and in August 2005 he signed a contract with Frank Warren . After a series of build-up victories against Peter Buckley and Brian Coleman , among others , who already had experience from 230 and 170 professional fights, respectively, he was won on June 14, 2008 by a TKo win in the seventh round against Barrie Jones (15-1), British champion. He then defended the title ahead of schedule against Kevin McIntyre (26-5), Stuart Elwell (12-3) and Michael Lomax (15-1) and on March 12, 2010 secured the WBO Intercontinental Championship by winning TKo against the Poland Krzysztof Bienias (39-3).

After early title defenses against Michael Jennings (36-2) and Philip Kotey (21-5), he also secured the WBA Intercontinental Championship in June 2011 by winning points against Lovemore N'dou (48-12). After early victories against Rafał Jackiewicz (38-9) and Luis Galarza (17-2), he defeated Matthew Hatton (42-5) unanimously on points in March 2012 and thus also won the International IBF Championship.

In World Championship eliminations, he beat Carson Jones (34-8) just on points and Héctor Saldivia (41-2) by TKo in the third round. In July 2013, he also beat Carson Jones prematurely in round eight in a rematch. In October 2013 he defeated Vyacheslav Sentschenko (34-1) by TKo in the fourth round.

On August 16, 2014, he defeated the reigning and undefeated IBF World Champion Shawn Porter (24-0) on points. This was followed by early title defenses against Ionuț Dan Ion (34-2), Frankie Gavin (22-1) and Kevin Bizier (25-2).

On September 10, 2016, he lost to the also undefeated Gennady Golovkin (35-0) by TKo in the fifth round. He suffered another defeat on May 27, 2017 by knockout against Errol Spence (21-0).

In February 2018 he won early against Siarhei Rabchanka (29-2) and in December 2018 unanimously against Michael Zerafa (25-2).
