Rafał Jackiewicz (born February 17, 1977 in Mińsk Mazowiecki ) is a Polish professional boxer and former kickboxer .

Kickboxing

Rafał Jackiewicz became Polish champion in light contact and full contact kickboxing in 1996, 1997 and 2000 . He also won a bronze medal in light contact at the WAKO European Championships in Belgrade in October 1996 .

Boxing

In 2001 he started as a professional boxer and won his debut on February 17th against Milan Smetana. By October 2005 he had a mixed match record with 15 wins, 8 losses and one draw. He lost against the later WBA world champion Jurij Nuschnenko , the amateur European champion Jacek Bielski , the later European champion Ted Bami and against Malik Cherchari . His most significant success to date was a knockout win in the first round against former IBF World Championship challenger Allan Vester in October 2003 in Zwickau . Further successes were the victory of the Polish championship in December 2003 against Vasile Herteg and a rematch victory against Mariusz Biskupski in April 2004, against whom he had lost in February 2003.

From October 2005 to September 2010, he remained undefeated in 21 fights. In June 2006 he defeated Joel Mayo in the fight for the IBC title, defended it against Nicolas Guisset and also beat Mayo in a rematch. In September 2008 he won the European Championship ( EBU ) unanimously on points against Jackson Osei Bonsu and successfully defended the title against the later IBF World Champion Dejan Zavec and the also undefeated Italian Luciano Abis. In an IBF title elimination bout, he was also able to beat the three-time World Cup challenger Delvin Rodriguez in November 2009 . After a subsequent win against Turgay Uzun , Jackiewicz boxed on September 4, 2010 for the IBF world title against Dejan Zavec, but lost the fight in Ljubljana by a narrow majority decision by the judges.

In October 2011 he lost to Kell Brook in the fight for the WBA intercontinental title, but was in May 2012 with a renewed victory against Luciano Abis EU champion of the EBU. In two European championship matches, he lost to Leonard Bundu in 2013 and to Gianluca Branco in 2014 .
