Adonte Joshua "Josh" Parker (born June 23, 1989 ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Parker began a career as a professional basketball player in 2012, in which he was voted "Player of the Year" in the ProB 2012/13 and achieved the championship of this division and promotion to the second division ProA with his team . For the basketball Bundesliga 2013/14 Parker moved to the first division club Mitteldeutscher BC in the top German division basketball Bundesliga .

Careers in the NCAA

Parker, who grew up with four siblings in Harvey, Illinois on the outskirts of Chicago , went to study at Drake University in Des Moines , Iowa in 2007 . There he played for the college team Bulldogs in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) of the NCAA . In his freshman playing time , the Bulldogs surprisingly won the MVC championship tournament with “Tournament MVPAdam Emmenecker , although only one “ starter ” was left from the squad of the previous year . In the national NCAA finals , however, they lost in the first round after extra time by a spectacular buzzer beater against the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky University . Emmenecker then started a professional career that initially led him to the German basketball league . Parker initially only stayed one more season and then moved to the University of Dayton in Ohio in 2009 , where he played for the college team Flyers in the stronger Atlantic 10 Conference . First, however, Parker had to suspend a year of championship games according to the rules of the NCAA after the university change. Without Parker, the Flyers won the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) in 2010 and missed qualifying for the NCAA finals in the following two years, while at the NIT they were eliminated in the first round.

Time in Germany (2012 to 2014)

After completing his studies in 2012, Parker began a professional career and went to Germany to the Bayer Giants from Leverkusen in the third-highest German division ProB . Together with his American compatriot John Eggleston, Parker led the team, which otherwise had many young German players, in fifth place in the South group in the play-offs for promotion. Here the team played its way up to the final series and achieved promotion to the second-highest German division ProA . In the finals against the first of the Nordgruppe Schwelmer Baskets , they also won the ProB championship. Parker himself was the best point collector of the ProB with almost 27 points on average per game during the main round not only twice as player of the month, but also as player of the year in this division in the 2012/13 season.

Parker then skipped the ProA and was signed directly by the German first division club Mitteldeutscher BC from Weißenfels , for whom he played in the 2013/14 basketball Bundesliga . At MBC, Parker got an average of 13.8 points per game round. For the 2014/2015 season, however, he did not get a new contract with MBC and left the club after a year.

Further career path (2014 to today)

Instead, Parker played in the second Turkish league for the university sports club Orkide Gediz from Izmir together with his experienced compatriot K'Zell Wesson , formerly a German champion with the Brose Baskets . In a total of 20 games, the American scored 14.6 points per encounter. In the 2015/16 season Parker moved to the Polish elite class Polska Liga Koszykówki to AZS Polfarmex Kutno. Here, too, the guard advanced to become a top performer (12.6 points per game), but in 2016/17 he was pulled back to the second highest division in Turkey. There he played for Gelisim Koleji and averaged 17.7 points per game.

After a serious injury to the Achilles tendon, Parker went to Bulgaria to BC Beroe Stara Zagora. His time in central Bulgaria ended after three games, as the club missed qualification for the FIBA Europe Cup . The Bulgarian association had to forego additional financial resources. For the Guard from Illinois, it immediately went on in Hungary at Sopron KC (26 games, 16.4 pps).

Via Lithuania ( KK Nevėžis Kėdainiai / 2018/19 / 10.6 points per game), Parker went to Soles de Mexicali in Mexico in 2019/20. With the club, which is based on the US / Mexican border, Parker won the title in the 1st division of Mexico. He then switched to Mantarrayas de La Paz as part of the Mexican Summer League.
