The Kempinski Hotel Gravenbruch Frankfurt is a hotel of luxury in Gravenbruch at Frankfurt . It was taken over in 1976 as the fourth hotel of the Kempinski Group in Germany .

history

The Lords of Heusenstamm had the Gravenbrucher Hof built in 1586 on the Grauer Bruch , the Gravenbruch . In 1661 the farm and the surrounding forest came into the possession of the Counts of Schönborn . Around 1720 they added a hunting lodge to the farm. The coat of arms above the portal to today's inner courtyard still reminds of this today. In 1885 the forest restaurant Forsthaus Gravenbruch was added to the farm and the Jagdschlösschen , which at the turn of the century developed into a popular excursion destination for the Frankfurt nobility. Following this trend, the forester's house was expanded in 1907 to include a hall and a number of guest rooms. A garden restaurant was built under the centuries-old trees in the park.

In 1943 almost the entire property was destroyed in a heavy bomb attack . Rudolf Graf von Schönborn had the building complex rebuilt in the old style just a few years after the end of the war. The restaurant was able to reopen in 1953, and it was expanded again at the end of the 1950s.

In the 1960s, the new hotel wing was built in the extensive park landscape and the first guests moved into it in 1967. At this point in time, the hotel's own lake and outdoor pool were created, and several lounges were newly built. In 1973 the leisure offer was supplemented by an indoor swimming pool. In 1976, Kempinski AG took over management of the house and carried out extensive renovation and expansion measures. In 1980 the hotel was officially reopened as the Kempinski Hotel by the Hessian Minister for Economics and Technology . In 2014, following the death of the owner, the hotel building was acquired by the Persian-English entrepreneurial family Mashali and renovated for 70 million euros.

Furnishing

The hotel has 225 rooms and suites, three restaurants, a bar, two ballrooms with capacities of up to 600 people each, 18 conference and event rooms and a fitness area.

In December 2013 the restaurant Sra Bua by Juan Amador opened . Juan Amador is responsible for implementing the Asian-European crossover concept . In November 2014 the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star .

Known guests

The proximity to Frankfurt am Main Airport , the seclusion and good training opportunities prompted the management of the German national soccer team to frequently choose the Kempinski Hotel in Gravenbruch as a starting point with subsequent overnight stays before various international matches. During the 2006 World Cup , the hotel was the official referee's accommodation. Other personalities such as the former US President Bill Clinton , Mikhail Gorbachev and the actors Chuck Norris and Arnold Schwarzenegger stayed in this hotel.
