Lee Jae-hwan ( Korean 이재환 , born April 6, 1992 ), better known as Ken ( 켄 ), is a South Korean singer and actor who is under contract with Jellyfish Entertainment . He is a member of the South Korean boy band VIXX and is known for his unique and soulful voice. He began his acting career in 2013 in the MBC Every 1 comedy drama Boarding House No. 24 as Lee Jaehwan .

Private

Ken was born in Jayang-dong, Seoul , South Korea and has two older brothers. He studied Practical Music at Baekseok Arts University . At a young age he took part in local singing competitions, most of which he won. In middle school, he took part in other competitions with his friends. Before making his debut with VIXX , he received several awards for songwriting.

Career

2012–2013: Debut with VIXX , acting debut and OSTs

Despite a lack of dance experience, Ken completed the auditions at Jellyfish Entertainment due to his singing talent. He trained there for five months before making his debut with VIXX . During this time he was one of ten apprentices who were voted into the Mnet reality show MyDOL and ultimately became part of the final line-up of the new boy group VIXX. The group had with Super Hero on May 24, 2012 on M! Countdown her debut.

In 2013 he was heard with the song In The Name of Love ( 사랑 이라는 이름 으로 ) on The Heirs OST . He was also heard on the song Ponytail in collaboration with J'Kyun .

Also in 2013 he was seen with his band in episode 4 of the SBS TV drama The Heirs . That same year he made his acting debut in the MBC Every 1 comedy drama Boarding House No. 24 as Lee Jaehwan .

2014–2015: Gap and theater debut

In 2014 he contributed to the Fated to Love You OST with the song My Girl .

On June 24, 2015 he released the duet Gap with Hani .

In 2015, Ken joined the cast of the musical Chess in the lead role of Anatoly Sergievsky , a world champion chess player. He played this role from June 19 to July 19 at the Sejong Grand Theater in Seoul . For this role he had to sing in lower registers, which is a stark contrast to the high notes he sings on VIXX . His powerful voice can be seen in the music video for Anthem . He was later seen in the music video The Fourth Dimension Love by Chinese singer Lu Yu . He was a fan of VIXX and asked Ken if he would take on the role.

In the same year he had his second musical role in the Korean production of the Cinderella musical , in the lead role of Prince Christopher . He played this role from September 12, 2015 to January 3, 2016 in the Chungmu Art Hall in the Grand Theater in Seoul and the Seongnam Arts Center Opera House.

Since 2016: Moorim School OST and Over Sleep

In February 2016 he contributed the song When I See You ( 그댈 보면 ) to the Moorim School OST . On May 24, it was announced that Ken would be involved in Yoon Jong-shin's monthly collaboration project Melody Monthly . The single Over Sleep was released on May 30, 2016. On December 22, 2016, he contributed the song Fool ( 바보 야 ) to The Legend of the Blue Sea OST .
