Kenneth Henry "Ken" Downing (born December 5, 1917 Chesterton , † May 3, 2004 in Monte Carlo ) was a British racing driver .

Career

Ken Downing was Connaught's representative in the 1950s when he started racing in his spare time. In 1951 he celebrated 17 victories in sports car races before switching to a Connaught Type A in 1952. With the A-Type he drove the Grand Prix of Great Britain and the Netherlands without being able to place himself in the top field. In 1953 he had to admit defeat to the Belgian Paul Frère and his HWM at the Chimay Grand Prix after a hard fight.

At the end of 1953 Downing resigned from racing and emigrated to South Africa . He died in Monte Carlo in spring 2004.
