Services

Ohmae Kenichi made Japanese management methods known to a broad western audience, such as the just-in-time production practiced by Toyota . He also presented the differences between Japanese and Western companies, in particular he pointed to the longer strategic planning horizon of Japanese companies compared to the short planning horizon of western companies due to shareholder value thinking. Through his numerous publications, which in the 1980s predicted or described globalization as a phenomenon of the world economy , he coined many terms that are still in use today.

criticism

Critics of capitalism see Ohmae Kenichi as a representative of neoliberalism . He stands for free and open markets in which capital should flow unhindered.

He often embeds his neoliberal stance in very pathetic metaphor constructions that would hardly contain any statements. In the opinion of the critics, his theses, which are extremely “banal” and have often been heard in connection with neoliberal economic policy, are presented by him as new , sometimes almost as “ revolutionary ” and thus unnecessarily exaggerated. He suggests specialist competence with simple economic contexts that are generally known.

Policy re -invent
the global stage calls for a new script . To do this, the most important actors have to change the way they act and think . This applies to individuals as well as institutions - whether companies , trade unions , citizens' groups , investors , regional or national governments. - What comes after globalization? (2006)
