Kenneth Gail Wannberg (born June 28, 1930 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American composer , conductor and sound engineer .

biography

Kenneth Gail Wannberg has been playing the piano since he was five. During his military service with the United States Air Force , he came into contact with orchestration and was able to improve his composition skills. He then found a job at 20th Century Fox . He assisted Bernard Herrmann for the first time on his composition for The Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) and John Williams for his music in The Valley of the Puppets (1967). For the latter, Wannberg was primarily responsible for the sound editing of films such as Star Wars , Raiders of the Lost Ark , Saving Private Ryan , Schindler's List and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban .

Wannberg was responsible for the sound editing of almost 100 film productions. At the same time, from the early 1970s to the late 1980s, he also composed music for films such as Goldfieber , The Philadelphia Experiment, and Rio's fault . In 1981 he was nominated for the Canadian Genie Award for his music in A Summer in Manhattan . He received an Emmy in 1986 for his composition on the television series Incredible Stories .

Wannberg was married from 1959 until his wife's death in 1999. His son Jeff Wannberg also works as a sound engineer for the film.
