Blame It on Rio ( Blame It on Rio ) is an American film comedy of Stanley Donen from the year 1984 . The film is a remake of the French comedy All Beginnings is Fun ( Un moment d'égarement ) by Claude Berri from 1977.
action
Matthew Hollis and Victor Lyons are friends who both have unhappy marriages. Lyons' wife is demanding a divorce. The friends and their daughters Jennifer Lyons and Nicole Hollis go on vacation to Rio de Janeiro . Matthew and Jennifer have sex while attending a Brazilian party. Matthew wants it to stay one night the next day, but Jennifer wants a permanent relationship. They start an affair. Victor Lyons finds out that his daughter has an older lover, which makes him angry. He tries to find out the man's identity; Matthew is helping him with this. Matthew finally no longer wants to deceive his friend and reveals to him that he himself is the person he is looking for. Matthew wants to break up with Jennifer. She disagrees with what she demonstrates by attempting suicide. She meets a new lover in the hospital.
Reviews
Roger Ebert compared the film in the Chicago Sun-Times with a " cynical sitcom " and described it as " questionable ". The action is the " usual stupidity " (" usual silliness "). Ebert only praised the personality and physical qualities of Michelle Johnson, in whom he saw " the next Bo Derek ".
