Kennosuke Watanabe ( Japanese 渡邊 剣 之 助 , Watanabe Kennosuke ; born September 28, 1980 in Hokkaidō ) is a former Japanese cross-country skier and biathlete .

Kennosuke Watanabe initially competed in cross-country skiing. Here, between 2000 and 2003, he was repeatedly involved in the second highest racing series of the time, the Continental Cup . In his races exclusively on Japanese soil, he achieved top ten results several times, he reached the podium three times, in Sapporo in 2001 he won a race over the 10-kilometer classic.

After Watanabe failed to make his breakthrough in cross-country skiing, he switched to biathlon in 2003. Here he came to his first race in the Biathlon European Cup in Geilo at the start of the 2004/05 season and missed the points as 39th in the individual and 51st in the sprint. Towards the end of the season, he made his debut in the biathlon world cup in Turin . In the later Olympic distances of Cesana San Sicario the Japanese alongside was Tatsumi Kasahara , Hidenori Isa and Daisuke Ebisawa 18th in the relay. In Pokljuka he came 67th in a sprint. The high point and the end of his career were the Biathlon World Championships 2005 in Hochfilzen . Watanabe was used in three races, achieved his best individual World Cup result with 62nd place, finished 80th in the sprint and 13th in the relay with World Cup line-up.
