The Keprnický potok , also Bystrý potok (German Vitseifen , on the upper reaches Nikischbach ) is a left tributary of the Bělá in the Czech Republic .

course

The Keprnický potok rises in three source streams on the northern slope of the Keprník (1422 m) in the Jeseníky Mountains . Its springs are located in the Šerák-Keprník nature reserve. The stream initially runs to the northeast and changes its direction to the east at the western foot of the Šerák (1350 m). Below the bellows ( Šumný ) the Keprnický potok forms a deep gorge in which the Chata Výrovka (Brandlehnbaude) lies. At the peaks of Nad Výrovkou (813 m) and Kieferhübels ( Domašovský Kopec , 663 m), several bunker lines of the Czechoslovak Wall stretch to the left of the stream . In the Dolní Domašov district of the municipality of Bělá pod Pradědem (Waldenburg) the Keprnický potok flows into the Bělá after 6.6 kilometers opposite the confluence of the Borový potok ( Kienseifen ).

history

During the Second World War, at the confluence of the Rödischbach and Nikischbach zum Vitseifen, one of a total of 40 prison camps was built in the Gesenke . 100 Russians were interned here who had to do forest work. Between 1941 and 1942 36 prisoners died of typhus in the Vietseifen camp .

After the end of the war, the Rudohoří camp found a new use as an internment camp for Sudeten Germans .

In 1960 the Rudohoří Forest Cemetery was built opposite the former camp to commemorate the deceased Russians. Outside the forest cemetery, the graves of nine Sudeten Germans who died in the internment camp have been located in another cemetery since 2003.
