Kerstin Kohlenberg

Kerstin Kohlenberg (born October 21, 1970 in Koblenz ) is a German journalist specializing in business journalism . She is the recipient of the Theodor Wolff Prize .

Life

Kerstin Kohlenberg studied sociology , economics and political science in Marburg, Berlin and New York. During this time she worked for ZDF in New York and Berlin. She was a volunteer , then an editor at Tagesspiegel , before moving to the Dossier section of the Hamburg weekly magazine Die Zeit in 2004, where she was its deputy head from January 2009. In 2011, she was the deputy department head of the newly established time -Ressorts Investigative . As of 2019, she is the foreign correspondent for the time in Washington.

Awards

For her reporting on the real estate crisis in the USA, which she observed from New York for a year, she was awarded the Georg von Holtzbrinck Prize for Business Journalism in the Print category in 2008 . Together with Wolfgang Uchatius , she received the Herbert Riehl Heyse Prize in 2009 for the essay on the financial crisis Where has the money gone? as well as the Ernst Schneider Prize . With Uchatius, she was nominated several times for the Henri Nannen Prize .

In 2013 she and Anita Blasberg received the special award for environmental journalism from the Gregor Louisoder Umweltstiftung for their report "Die Klimakrieger" (The Climate Warriors), which deals with the deniers of climate change .

In 2014 Kerstin Kohlenberg received the Theodor Wolff Prize for her report on film piracy with the title Recording is running! , in which she meticulously describes the efforts to raise the capital for an expensive film production while protecting it from pirates who endanger the refinancing with pirated copies on the Internet.
