Herbert Riehl Heyse Prize
The Herbert-Riehl-Heyse-Preis is a journalist prize for outstanding journalists in the print media . It was awarded for the first time in 2005. The prize was donated by the shareholders of the Süddeutscher Verlag . It is endowed with 10,000 euros.
The prize is awarded every two years in memory of the chief editor of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Herbert Riehl-Heyse . This award is given to political essays , commentaries and other newspaper articles. You must have appeared in a German-language newspaper or magazine within the last two years. Translations from foreign languages are not awarded.
Applicants for the prize can propose their work to the jury themselves. Readers of newspapers or magazines can also submit articles. The submitter must submit a corresponding justification in each case. Contributions in the categories politics, economy, science, culture, sport and society are honored.

- 2005: Stefan Geiger ( Stuttgarter Zeitung ) committed to property for his essay .
- 2007: Stephan Lebert and Stefan Willeke ( Die Zeit ) for their report on the upper class at Lake Starnberg.
- 2009: Kerstin Kohlenberg and Wolfgang Uchatius ( Die Zeit ) for their essayistic report Where has the money gone? .
- 2011: Gerhard Stadelmaier ( FAZ ) for his essay Stuttgart as a spiritual way of life .
- 2013: Hans Holzhaider ( Süddeutsche Zeitung ) for his text Der nackte Wahnsinn
- 2015: Anne Kunze ( Die Zeit ) for her report Die Schlachtordnung.
- 2017: Stefan Berg ( Der Spiegel ) for his essay Das Erbe der DDR .
- 2019: Martin Staudinger ( profile ) for his article In four steps to sole rule .
