The Kessel is an abandoned alpine pasture and today a boat landing stage with a shelter hut on the eastern bank of the Königsee in the Bavarian municipality of Schönau am Königssee . It is located about two kilometers northeast across from St. Bartholomä . The name comes from the Kesselbach flowing into the lake and the Kesselwand with waterfall above. These are designated as geotopes . A hiking trail leads to the Gotzentalalm , which is around 500 meters above the pier. In summer, the Königsseeschifffahrt boats run to the stop every half hour if required .

The Kesselalm was formerly known as Vorweide for Funtensee - lift used. In 1794 the Wallner brothers built a hermitage and other "facilities" (tables, benches, stairs, garden). An inscription from around 1810 is under monument protection ( ), as is the so-called Wallner pyramid ( ; with inscription, tuff stone, 1808) in a rock wall.
