Kevin Lalande (born February 19, 1987 in Kingston , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper with Belarusian citizenship who was active for many years in the Continental Hockey League at HK Dinamo Minsk , HK CSKA Moscow and Vityas Chekhov . With the Belarusian national team , he took part in several world championships and the 2017 Olympic qualification .
Career
Kevin Lalande began his career as a hockey player with the Belleville Bulls , for which he was active from 2003 to 2007 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2005 in the fifth round as a total of 128th player by the Calgary Flames , for which he never played. Instead, the goalkeeper was on the ice from 2007 to 2009 for their farm team Quad City Flames from the American Hockey League and the Las Vegas Wranglers in the ECHL . During the 2008/09 season he moved within the AHL to the Syracuse Crunch , for which he was used in the following one and a half seasons. In Syracuse, the Canadian was able to convince with a goal average of 2.26 and 2.86 respectively, and a catch rate of 92.7% and 91.2%, so that he was obliged for the 2010/11 season by Vitjas Chekhov from the Continental Hockey League .
From July 2011 he was under contract with HK Dinamo Minsk . In December 2011, Lalande accepted Belarusian citizenship and was eligible to play for Belarus from October 2013. For the 2014 World Cup in Belarus he was appointed to the host's squad and impressed with very good statistical values.
After the 2013/14 season he left Dinamo Minsk and was signed by HK CSKA Moscow in July 2014 . For the ZSKA he completed a total of 3 KHL games with excellent statistical values.
He returned to Dinamo Minsk in October 2015 after attending the Minnesota Wild training camp but not getting a contract.
Due to several concussions and a hip disease, he was only able to play a few games in the following two years, so that he finally decided to retire in February 2018.
