Kevin Richard Thiele

Kevin Richard Thiele (* 1958 in Western Australia ) is an Australian botanist . Its botanical author's abbreviation is " KRThiele ".

Working life

Thiele received a PhD in botany from the University of Melbourne in 1993 .

He is a curator at the Western Australian Herbarium in Perth . He primarily examines the systematics of the plant families of the silver tree , buckthorn and violet plants as well as the nature conservation biology of the grassy, ​​light forest ecosystem . He also deals with biodiversity informatics and is involved in the design of the software for the Global Biodiversity Infrastructure Facility .

Since 1993 Thiele has also published a number of descriptions of plant species, especially those from the buckthorn family, for the "Flora of Australia". In 1996, together with Pauline Ladiges , he wrote the “Taxonomy of Banksien ”. In 2007 he worked with Austin Mast on the transfer of the genus Dryandra into the genus of Banksia .
