The Khanabad or Chanabad is a right tributary of the Kunduz in the north of Afghanistan .

The Khanabad rises in the Hindu Kush in the extreme southeast of the Tachar province . It flows in a predominantly north-westerly direction through the mountains. It picks up the Warsaj from the left in the upper reaches . The river passes the Farchar district . It flows through the entire province of Tachar and passes its capital Taloqan . Near the provincial border with Kunduz , the Bangi flows into the Khanabad on the left. The Khanabad now flows in a west-northwest direction through the eastern part of Kunduz Province. The city of Chanabad is on its left bank. The Khanabad flows north past the provincial capital Kunduz and meets the Kunduz River 25 km northwest of the city of Kunduz. The Khanabad has a length of 240 km. It drains an area of ​​11,000 km².
