Kicke is a district in the Alt Refrath district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The name Kicke was based on the former name of the trophy An der Kicke , which is recorded in the original cadastre west of Altrefrath in the area of today's Kicke street. The hall name Kicken goes back to the dialect verb kicken / kicke (= see, look, look, lurk), which was developed as a loan word from the Middle Low German kiken (= look). In the field name, the word refers to a location with good visibility or a guard post.
In the community encyclopedia for the province of Rhineland, edition 1888, ed. by the Royal Statistical Bureau of Prussia, Bensberg gives four houses with 21 inhabitants for Kicke.
