Location of Sandbüchel in Bergisch Gladbach |
Sandbüchel is a district in the Alt Refrath district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The name Sandbüchel comes from the old tub designation Aufm Sandbüchel , which is recorded in the original cadastre south of Altrefrath in the area of today's Sandbüchel road. In the early modern period this name was transferred to a farm near the old Refrath church . Until 1660 the name is documented as Sandtbüchel . The basic word büchel is derived from the Germanic hump (= semicircular elevation). It denotes a hill. It is therefore a sandy elevation.
