Kieron Moore

Kieron Moore (actually Ciarán Ó hAnnracháin , Anglicized Kieron O'Hanrahan ; born October 5, 1924 in Skibbereen , County Cork , Ireland , † July 15, 2007 in Charente-Maritime , France ) was an Irish actor .

Life

Kieron Moore was the son of the writer, poet and linguist Peadar Ó hAnnracháin , who was a Conradh na Gaeilge activist and served two prison terms during the Irish Civil War . In his youth Moore attended the Coláiste Mhuire language school and then studied medicine at University College Dublin and played at the same time at the Abbey Theater in Dublin at the age of 19 . He gave up his studies in favor of acting. He made his debut as Denis O'Shea in the 1945 released and directed by Maurice J. Wilson crime film The Voice Within on the side of Olive Sloane and Brefni O'Rorke on the screen. He then played, henceforth under the stage name Kieron Moore , in the two film dramas Romance in the South and Deadly Secret . In the early 1950s he moved to Los Angeles and starred in films such as David and Bathsheba , Women Robbery in Morocco and The Secret of the Haunted Cave .

Moore retired from acting in 1974 and became involved in church and charitable causes. For nine years he was a member of the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development , where he campaigned for the Third World . In 1994 he moved to France to enjoy his old age there. He died on July 15, 2007. Moore was married to actress Barbara White from 1947 until his death. Both had four children together.
