action
1877, on the American-Mexican border: Johnny's father is the notorious gunslinger Ace Ketchum; he's looking for his mother's murderer. He meets various people like Deputy Mace Fenton, who would like to collect the $ 10,000 bounty on Ace, after a stagecoach robbery on the rich landowner Don Pedro Fortuna and his pretty daughter Pilar, and on Juan Morales, a bandit that strikes the region with fear and terror. The eager search slowly develops into a father-son conflict, until finally the family secrets are revealed, Johnny and Pilar can become a couple and the fighting with Morales' gang can be victorious.
criticism
The critics were short and described the work as “cheap” despite the “attractive cast”. The "title already says it all", even if the film is spiced up with American actors and ideas from the old western.
Remarks
The Spanish title is El hijo del pistolero .
Renato Polselli , sometimes given the role of sheriff, has nothing to do with the film as an Italian and without any other acting merits.
In the film Django Unchained (2012) by Quentin Tarantino , Russ Tamblyn plays Johnny Ketchum again, his daughter Amber Tamblyn also appears in the film as his daughter.
