Kilian Märkl (born April 10, 2000 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a German ski jumper who competes for SC Partenkirchen . His greatest success so far is the world champion title in the team competition of the Junior World Championships 2019 as well as participation in the Four Hills Tournament 2019/20 .

Career

His international career began in two competitions of the Alpencup on September 30th and October 1st, 2016 in Hinterzarten , where he finished 36th and 22nd. In the following winter, Märkl started in the Alpencup, where he initially scored 48th and 49th in Seefeld and 36th place in the subsequent competitions in Schonach . During the winter he was able to improve and achieved his best result in the Alpine Cup to date with 4th place in the competition in Hinterzarten. In the summer of 2017, the Partenkirchner started again in the Alpencup. At the competitions in Chaux-Neuve, France, the Upper Bavarian jumped to places 18 and 30 and thus scored points in the overall Alpine Cup standings. During the rest of the summer, the athlete jumped at a constant level and reached points in Kandersteg and Predazzo , among others . In the following winter he increased his performance and reached the top 15 in Hinterzarten and Chaux-Neuve respectively. On August 17, 2018, Märkl made his debut in the Continental Cup in Szcyrk , Poland , as part of the Beskydy Tour 2018 , where he finished 44th in the second round missed. In the subsequent stations in Wisla and Frenstat, the athlete also failed to make it into the top 30. In the overall ranking, the jumper from SC Partenkirchen finished 47th with 303.20 points.

On January 6th, 2019 Kilian Märkl was allowed to start at the COC in Klingenthal after strong performances in the Alpine Cup . There he reached 4th place, his best placement to date in a competition of the Continental Cup. Due to his good results, he was allowed to take part in the 2019 Junior World Championships in Lathi, Finland, where the athlete won gold in the team competition together with his teammates Luca Roth , Philipp Raimund and Constantin Schmid . In the individual competition he reached 29th place. Then the junior world champion jumped again in the Alpine Cup. There he then consistently reached the second round, so that he was allowed to participate in the last COC competition in Chaikovskiy . However, the FIS disqualified him in both competitions. In the summer of 2019 Märkl started in the COC, but after some disappointing results such as B. 35th place in the Slovenian Kranj, the jumper had to return to the Alpine Cup. There Märkl was able to convince with good results, accordingly he was allowed to participate in the qualification for the summer GP jumping in Klingenthal. With 63rd place, however, he missed the qualification for jumping.

In the winter of 2020, the Partenkirchen native started directly in the COC. Due to above-average performance, he was appointed to the national group by the national coach. However, Märkl missed qualifying for the competitions in both Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen with places 61 and 55 . later the athlete was nominated for the 2020 Junior World Championships in Oberwiesenthal, Saxony. In the team he won the bronze medal together with Philipp Raimund, Claudio Haas and Luca Roth. He finished the season in 51st place.
