MTV Portugal is a Portuguese cable , satellite and IPTV television channel that broadcasts general entertainment 24 hours a day. It is available on all 4 national television providers in Portugal. The station broadcasts on Pay TV and can be received via Hispasat 30.0 ° via satellite.
The channel is also broadcast in Africa, namely Angola and Mozambique .
history
MTV Portugal was launched on July 3, 2003. The station belongs to the globally active MTV Group, which was founded in 1981 and made music history. MTV is the company Viacom owned by US media mogul Sumner Redstone .
Initially, the station mainly broadcast music, but over time more and more reality shows . Most of its programming consists of programs broadcast by MTV and MTV2 in the United States , but also programs from Great Britain ( Geordie Shore , Just Tattoo of Us , ...) or Spain ( Gandía Shore , ...) .
VJ casting
On February 3, 2012, MTV Portugal produced the program MTV VJ Casting , the aim of which was to search for new VJs for the station. The program ran in ten different cities - Almada , Aveiro , Coimbra , Faro , Funchal , Guimarães , Lisbon , Montijo , Sintra and Viseu . The big winner was Ana Sofia Martins.
