history
Kilmany has a parish church called Kilmany Parish Church . It was built in 1768 and has remained largely unchanged since then. Thomas Chalmers , founder of the Free Church of Scotland , was a pastor there between 1803 and 1815. However, the site has been used by Christians for a long time. George Melville, 1st Earl of Melville , who died in 1707, is buried in the surrounding cemetery . The Villa Kilmany House was built from 1914 onwards by William Anstruther-Gray, Baron Kilmany , based on a design by Reginald Fairlies .
In 1936, two-time Formula 1 world champion Jim Clark was born in Kilmany . His former rival Jackie Stewart unveiled a statue of Clark in the center of town in 1997.
