Kim Plainfield

Kim Plainfield (born March 24, 1954 in Seattle , Washington - † April 8, 2017 in Tomkins Cove , New York) was an American drummer and composer .

Life

Plainfield is from the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to New York in 1977. He began his career there with numerous appearances and studio recordings, which initially brought him to Mingo Lewis and the Pointer Sisters . Other musical companions of Plainfield were for example Bill Connors , Didier Lockwood and Jon Lucien . Plainfield has been an Associate Professor of Percussion at Berklee College of Music since 2002 . He has also been a member of the teaching staff at the Outreach Festival & Academy Schwaz since 2009 .

Plainfield can be heard as a studio musician on countless productions including Pat Thrall , Adam Holzman , Mino Cinelu and Edgar Winter . In the field of jazz he was involved in 34 recording sessions from 1980 to 2006, including a. with Ann Burton , Bill Connors, Didier Lockwood, Tania Maria and Jon Lucien. In addition, released two albums under his own name.
