Outreach Festival & Academy
The Outreach Festival & Academy (often called “Festival of Young Music” in the press) is a jazz meeting that has been held annually since 1993 in Schwaz , Austria . The initiator is the jazz trumpeter Franz Hackl .

Since 1993 musicians have been invited year after year to teach participants and to make music together in different line-ups. Under the motto “flavor enhancement for everyone”, greats of the jazz and rock world, DJs and music producers come together in Schwaz to bring “living music” to the people. With its music programming, the Outreach Festival wants to offer something original and unmistakable. This mixture is now valued by festival visitors from all over Austria.
Outreach Academy
In the Outreach Academy, instrumental soloists teach musicians of all ages for several weeks. Beginners and experts alike learn to express themselves on their instrument; as well as stage presence, arrangement, composition, recording technology and much more. In 2016, more than 20 music teachers taught in around 50 workshop courses with almost 200 teaching units at the Outreach Academy. At all Outreach Academy workshops, course participants have the opportunity to get tips and know-how from sought-after professional musicians. Adam Holzman has been part of the Academy's core team since 2001 and was a. a. musical director with Miles Davis. Mike Keneally played a. a. with Frank Zappa , John Clark and Mark Egan was a member of the Gil Evans Orchestra, Craig Harris Heard the Big Band of Sun Ra . Further lecturers each year are Dave Taylor , Mino Cinelu , Thomas Kugi, Lorenz Hargassner , Franz Hackl , Gene Pritsker , Chanda Rule and the Austrian drummer Gernod Bernroider. Kim Plainfield was a regular lecturer at the Academy until his death.
Outreach Young Master Scholarship
Since 2011, two to three gifted scholarships have been awarded to young musicians every year. Each of the scholarship holders is assigned a music teacher from the Outreach Music Academy. The student accompanies his teacher for a week and is at his side for all rehearsals, performances and teaching units of the Outreach Music Academy. In addition, the scholarship holder receives individual lessons from his mentor. In between there are many conversations. “Hang with the musician” - just like it used to be done in swing and bebop times.
Outreach Friends Concerts
The “Outreach Friends Concerts” are a platform for young musicians and bands. Outreach organizes the concerts, takes on the PR and advertising work and provides professional stage technology . The concerts take place all year round, regardless of location. The Outreach Open Air z. B. has traditionally been held in Schwaz on Magreitner Platz since 1993. Other venues were and are in addition to Schwaz (outreach DJam concerts), St. Johann in Tirol (“Jazz meets brass music”), Innsbruck and Stams .
