Kimball International, Inc. is a manufacturer of furniture and electronics . Kimball International essentially consists of two groups: Furniture making and “Contract Electronics”, ie electronics supplies for industrial customers.

history

Keyboard instruments

WW Kimball founded a piano business in 1857 . At times, Kimball was the largest piano manufacturer in the United States. The piano manufacturing was discontinued after 1996.

The company was known for its low bepreisten upright pianos , possible due to the high vertical integration in the group or the high level of vertical integration . Kimball began building pianos in 1886 and peaked in 1910 with 4,000 pianos manufactured per year.

Kimball was also a manufacturer of pipe organs from 1890 to 1942 , it also made reed organs and electronic organs.

WW Kimball Co. was the only manufacturer to receive the "Worlds Columbian Exposition Award" at the " World's Columbian Exposition " in Chicago in 1893 .

Acquisition of Kimball by Jasper

Kimball International was previously known under the name of Jasper, Inc . In 1959 Jasper bought the WW Kimball Company and in 1974 was renamed "Kimball International". Kimball went public in 1976.

Spin-off of Kimball Electronics

On October 31, 2014, the Kimball Electronics division was spun off and floated on the stock exchange as an independent company. The company is self-employed in the NASDAQ listed company .

On January 1, 2007, the Kimball Electronics Group acquired Reptron Manufacturing Services in Tampa , Florida. This acquisition includes four factories in Michigan, California, Tampa and Minnesota . Reptron specializes in customer solutions for medical devices. The acquisition expanded Kimball's workforce by 1200 people. The manufacturing segment of the "Kimball Electronics Group" now supplies products that range from automotive parts to medical devices to security technology for public and private clients.

Furniture segment

The “Office Furniture Group” focuses on office furniture construction and supplies three different brand names: “Kimball Office”, “National Office Furniture” and “Kimball Hospitality”.

Kimball Office

Kimball Office manufactured the first desk in 1970 and aims to work in the high quality segment. The company introduced significant improvements to inventory and rapid customer delivery. Kimball Office expanded its offerings to include a broad line of products including cabinets, shelves, seating and tables.

National Office Furniture

In 1980 Kimball International founded the National Office Furniture brand. As part of Kimball International, Kimball entered this segment with certain advantages for customers who concern quality wood construction, an inventory management of frequently requested articles in favor of a fast delivery time and production facilities according to the current state of furniture construction. The company grew rapidly.

Kimball Hospitality

Kimball entered the hotel furniture market in 1985. Kimball Hospitality has furnished more than 14,000 rooms in the major hotels and casinos of Las Vegas and is the largest supplier of hotel furniture there.
