Laem Chabang ( Thai แหลม ฉบัง ) is a city in the Chonburi province of Thailand . It is a port city on the Gulf of Thailand and is home to the largest port in Thailand .

Laem Chabang ( เทศบาล นคร แหลม ฉบัง ) is administratively a large city ( Thesaban Nakhon ) . It is located in the province ( Changwat ) Chonburi and extends over the district ( tambon ) Bang Lamung in the district ( Amphoe ) Bang Lamung as well as the districts Bueng, Surasak, Thung Sukhla and parts of Nong Kham in Si Racha . The port is located about 25 km north of Pattaya , south of the city of Chon Buri .
The Sukhumvit Highway ( Thanon Sukhumvit ) , which runs eastward from Bangkok to Trat , also passes through Laem Chabang.
Economy and Infrastructure
The deep-sea port ( Panamax- compatible), completed in 1991, determines the city's economy. It is the most important overseas port in the country and with 6.04 million TEU annually (as of 2013) it is 21st among the busiest container ports on earth. Many of Thailand's import and export goods are moved here. In addition to the logistics services that a port needs, wholesale and tourism are also noteworthy. Laem Chabang is marketed as the opposite of the bustling Pattaya.
ExxonMobil has built an oil refinery here.
Two major infrastructure projects with a total value of 36 billion baht were approved in October 2007. These are railway lines between Laem Chabang and Nakhon Ratchasima and Lat Krabang . This is intended to further develop the east coast of the country, with Laem Chabang playing a key role.

In addition to the nearby beaches on the Gulf of Thailand, there are many of the golf courses popular in Thailand , such as the Laem Chabang International Country Club designed by Jack Nicklaus , which meets the highest standards.
Cruise ship passengers who dock here from time to time visit the island of Ko Kut , among other places .
