Amphoe Si Racha ( Thai : อำเภอ ศรีราชา , pronunciation: [ ampʰɤː sǐː raːt͡ɕʰaː ]) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in Chonburi Province . The Chonburi Province is located in the east of the central region of Thailand .

The largest city in the amphoe has been Chao Phraya Surasak since 2013 , which is, however, not a city in the sense of settlement geography, but has only been declared one for administrative purposes.

Si Racha is located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand , about 120 kilometers southwest of the capital Bangkok , halfway between Chonburi and Pattaya .

The neighboring Amphoe are clockwise from the north: Mueang Chonburi , Ban Bueng , Nong Yai , Pluak Daeng ( Rayong Province ), Bang Lamung and the Gulf of Thailand .

economy

The new commercial port in Laem Chabang , which was built in the 1990s, is an important economic factor for Amphoe Si Racha. In 2011 it was the 23rd of the most popular container ports in the world with a throughput of 5.73 million TEU (slightly less than the Bremerhaven container terminal ).
