history
The remains of two settlements, a standing stone and a cairn, testify to the settlement of the area, which dates back to the Stone Age or the Early Bronze Age .
In 1715 Kinbuck was part of the battlefield of the Battle of Sheriffmuir , the main battle of the First Jacobite Rising . Although there was no victor in the battle and the losses were relatively small, the demoralized Jacobites withdrew. On a hillside southwest of Kinbuck, the Whitestone Range , a maneuvering area, was established in the 19th century . Among other things, infantrymen were trained there for the Boer War or the First World War . During the Second World War , German positions were recreated there, including a segment of the Atlantic Wall in preparation for Operation Overlord .
Northwest of Kinbuck was in the 1870s Villa Cromlix House built. The village school was closed in 1998 and the building was converted into a community center. In 1961 there were 114 people in Kinbuck.
