King's School was a secondary school for students between 11 and 18 years in the East Westphalian district town of Gütersloh . She was visited by children of the British Army personnel stationed in the region. Some of the students traveled on working days by bus from Bielefeld , Herford or Münster . Since 1994, overnight accommodations have been available on the school premises for up to 80 children and young people.

King's School opened on September 19, 1960. The school is located in the Sundern district on the site of a former air intelligence base of the German Air Force . The area on the Dalke was taken over by the British after the war under the name "Mansergh Barracks". The barracks of the King's School were gradually adapted to the requirements of a school.

There were excellent sports facilities on the site, an artificial field and several natural grass fields include playing fields for football , rugby , hockey and cricket , as well as tennis and netball courts . In addition to the armed forces sports hall, there are two separate gyms available.

The school followed the so-called National Curriculum. Outside of class, the students were able to take advantage of the school's leisure activities, including chess, dance, photography, film, printing, sewing, fashion design, gardening, fitness, karate , ultimate and juggling .

From 1965, the Haig School, a primary school for children up to 11 years of age, was located in a neighboring building.

Both schools were closed after the withdrawal of British troops in 2019.
