The Kingenhofsäge is a historical, functional knocking saw in the Löffeltal in Hinterzarten , which is classified as a cultural monument .

The saw is located on the Hochschwarzwald Heimatpfad , an approximately seven-kilometer circular route through the Hinterzartener Moor and the Ravennaschlucht , which also leads past the former Hotel Rössle and the Sankt Oswald chapel in Höllental . The saw regularly takes part in the German Milling Day .

history

The saw was built at Rotbach in 1828 as a yard saw for the Kingenhof, which was already occupied in 1446. From 1969 the saw was no longer used. In the same year, the Hinterzarten-Breitnau local group of the Black Forest Association, together with the spa administration, began planning the Hochschwarzwald home trail , which was inaugurated in 1970. After the Black Forest Association restored the Großjockenmühle in the Ravennaschlucht in 1977 , its local group leased the Kingenhofsäge in 1979 and also restored it in collaboration with the owner until 1982.

In 1986, the former sawmill from 1842 was demolished and rebuilt in the old style.

In 2009 the lease between the owner and the Black Forest Association expired. In 2011 a new lease agreement was signed between the owner and the Heimatpfad Hochschwarzwald association founded in 1987. At the same time, the shingle roof laid out in 1979 and the 43-meter-long barge had to be replaced. In addition to financial support from the Black Forest Association, the Baden-Württemberg Monument Foundation and the nature park program, the association launched the shingles initiative for the Kingenhof saw . Donors were able to subscribe to shingles worth EUR 5.
