Kip Moore
Kip Moore (born April 1, 1980 in Tifton , Georgia ) is an American country singer.
Career
Kip Moore's father was a professional golfer and his mother a piano teacher and painter. At school he was mainly interested in sports and played basketball and golf. Golfing also gave him a scholarship to Valdosta State University . There he discovered music for himself and also performed solo and with a band. After graduating from college, he took six months off in Hawaii , where he decided to pursue a music career in Nashville .
While he worked in the country music capital from 2004 for the Abercrombie & Fitch fashion chain , he also successfully offered his songs to musicians like Jake Owen and Thompson Square . He signed a permanent contract as a songwriter in 2008 with Universal Nashville . It then took another four years before he had his own record deal and completed his debut album Up All Night together with producer Brett James . A year earlier he had already made a name for himself in the country charts with the single Mary Was the Marrying Kind . The breakthrough came with the song Somethin '' Bout a Truck , which was released in September 2011. It rose further and further in the country charts until it finally reached number 1, and in the official singles charts it came to number 29. The song was finally awarded double platinum for two million units sold. The debut album then reached number 6 in the album charts in spring 2012 and sold almost half a million times. With Beer Money and Hey Pretty Girl it contained two more chart singles, both of which also received sales awards again.
From 2013 Moore began working on the second album. The singles Young Love and Dirt Road were released in advance, but only placed between position 20 and 40 in the country charts . Since this did not meet his own expectations, he decided with the label to discard the previous work and start all over again. Therefore, it took until the middle of 2015 until the album Wild Ones was finished. The pre-release single I'm to Blame just made it into the official charts, but didn't get past 24th in the country charts. And the album couldn't come close to its debut success either. Even if it reached higher placements in the first week with number 4 in the official and number 2 in the country charts, the sales figures remained far behind those of the first album.
In October 2016, an EP with two studio and three live recordings was released, which in turn was able to place itself in the charts. At the beginning of 2017, More Girls like You, the first song in the preliminary phase of a new album, was released.
