history
In 1364 there was a report of a chapel in Helba . Around 1600 this chapel was torn down and a new village church was built, which was later converted into a school due to increasing moisture from the floods of the Helba . The current church was built between 1884 and 1885 under court architect Albert Neumeister, and was consecrated on June 14, 1885.
The church Helba was built as a hall church with a retracted choir in the neo-Romanesque style. The tower on the west side has an octagonal tower dome and ornamental framework. On the north-east corner is the sacristy with ornamental framework and on the north-west corner there is a stair tower. The church was financed mainly through charity events under the patronage of Princess Maria Elisabeth of Saxony-Meiningen .
