history

There was a castle chapel in the Henneberg ruins high above the village as early as 1096 . Presumably after the castle chapel fell into disrepair, construction of the village church began . It was built above the village on the site of the old cemetery , where two Henneberg counts were buried in 1090 and 1091 .

The rectangular nave is from 1626. The core of the old church rises above the choir in the church tower . The year 1607 is carved into the cross vault . In 1736, the tenant of the chamber property donated the altar with a cross and carvings.

Since 1984 the church has been restored as part of the preservation of monuments . In 1989 the interior and the paintings were restored.
