The Langenhanshagen church is a late Gothic church building from the first half of the 14th century. It is located in the district of Langenhanshagen in the West Pomeranian community of Trinwillershagen .

history

The church dates from the first half of the 14th century. The oldest building is the hall of the church, the choir was added later.

During the GDR times, the church was to be demolished. After the fall of the Wall, extensive renovation work was carried out between 1992 and 2003 and is continuing.

Services are only held in summer. The church room is also used for exhibitions by local artists in the summer months.

description

The towerless, tile-roofed church is a work of brick Gothic . A smaller choir with buttresses is attached to the rectangular nave . The west gable is slightly asymmetrical. The more richly structured east gable of the hall church is covered by the choir. On the north side the smoothly plastered stone wall is provided with incised joints; this type of plaster is probably the original one.

Next to the church is a belfry with a bell from 1704. The church is in the middle of the cemetery with a well-tended stone wall.

Furnishing

The Langenhanshagen church is empty. The altar from (around 1500) has been relocated, as is the pulpit (early 17th century) and the baptismal font (1650). There are also no significant glass windows in the church at the moment. The organ , made by Barnim Grüneberg in 1879 , is in the Mecklenburg Organ Museum in Malchow; The organ gallery is preserved . The original seating is also housed in other places.

The ribbed vault in the choir, which is very unusual for a simple village church, is worth seeing . The hall has a wooden beam ceiling.

A grave slab embedded in the ground commemorates the noble lords of Langenhanshagen: Mathias Friedrich von Bibow (1671–1756) and his wives Margaretha Sophia von Jörcken and Magthalen Eleonora von Bassewitz.

local community

The Protestant parish of Lüdershagen has been part of the Stralsund Propstei in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Stralsund parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .
