The Mecklenburg Organ Museum in Malchow (Mecklenburg) has existed since 1997.

Emergence

In 1825 a separate parish was created for the monastery . It was housed in a semi-detached house from the second half of the 18th century. It arose from the merging of the organist's house and the official hunter's house. The associated renovation gave it a classical look. In the years 1887/1888 the rectory was enlarged and changed again. An extension was added to the southern gable. There have been no structural changes since that time. The house has been owned by the city of Malchow since 1997 and is used as an organ house.

museum

In the neo-Gothic church of the Malchow monastery and the adjacent rectory, the development of the organ since its beginnings and especially the history of Mecklenburg organ building are presented. There are eleven organs in the museum's fund. A model organ can be played by visitors. Several organs can be heard in concerts in July and August. The processing of the Mecklenburg organ inventory is part of the work of the museum.

Organs

In the organ museum there are currently 12 mostly complete organs, as well as other parts such as gaming tables, cases and others. The number of manuals is given in the fourth column, the number of registers in the fifth. A capital “P” stands for an independent pedal, a lowercase “p” for an attached one. Unless otherwise specified, mechanical slide chests are provided.
