The Church of the Assumption (Fratelia) ( Romanian Biserica romano-catolică “Adormirea Maicii Domnului” ) is a Roman Catholic church in the VI. District Fratelia the western Romanian city of Timisoara ( German Timisoara ).
history
The small church without a tower was built in 1928 on the initiative of the Salvatorian Father Columban Heinrich Cieslik in the workers' colony Besenyei (Fratelia B), and was consecrated on August 19, 1928 by the then Bishop Augustin Pacha . Part of the main altar of the church comes from the former chapel of the Roman Catholic seminary in Timișoara, which was disbanded by the communist authorities in 1948. Today the church belongs to the parish church of St. Joseph in Fratelia . Church services are held here in Hungarian, German and Romanian.
