The Church of St. Joseph ( Romanian Biserica Parohială "Sfântul Josif" ) is a Roman Catholic church in the VI. District Fratelia the western Romanian city of Timisoara ( German  Timisoara ).

history

The Roman Catholic parish, consisting of Hungarian and German believers, was founded in 1932. The parish church was built between 1926 and 1928 under the direction of the Salvatorian Father Angelicus Bugiel according to plans by the architect Maka Elemér . The foundation stone was laid in 1926 in the presence of Vicar General Stephan Fiedler , later the Roman Catholic Bishop of Oradea and Satu Mare , and on July 6, 1930, the church was consecrated by Bishop Augustin Pacha .

In the gothic built style church of Saint Joseph at the crossroads Strada Ana Ipatescu , Strada Victor Hugo and Strada Chişodei is located in the former district Fratelia A . In the former Fratelia B district , another Roman Catholic church, the Church of the Assumption , was built in 1928 .

The church has a length of 43 meters and a width of 13 meters, the tower height is 34 meters. The bells were cast by the Novotny company in Timișoara in 1930 . The tower clock is a donation from Caritas Freiburg in 1977. There is a cross in front of the entrance portal .

The main altar inside the church is decorated with a wooden statue of St. Joseph , the patron saint of the church. The windows with their Romanesque arches are made of white and yellow glass.

In 1970 the church was restored both inside and outside, the paintings are by the artist Jacob Hahn Senior . In 1978 the church interior was redesigned in accordance with the provisions of the Second Vatican Council .

The Holy Mass is held in Hungarian , German and Romanian .

For several decades a harmonium was used to accompany church singing. Around 1974 a used organ was imported from Germany, which originally came from the workshop of organ builder Gustav Weiß from Zellingen . The new organ was consecrated on December 9, 1995. The 17 registers are distributed over 2 manuals and pedal. The disposition is as follows:
